Cristina comes back to Seattle Grace; The crash victims meet with the legal team to decide their actions with moving forward with the lawsuit for the plane crash. Meredith and Alex argue about her selling him the house, with minor issues on the house; Jo works with a patient dubbed "Santa Claus" who constantly vomits over her. Derek and Callie begin to argue about his surgical career, and her operating to save his hand; while Dr. Bailey tries to bring Arizona back to the hosptial to work on a case for her. Jackson and April continue to have sex, after continualy getting compared to bad things, Jackson confesses that it's not just sex for him, and that he has feelings for her. When meeting the new head of cardio, Cristina finds that she is just there to make him look good, and decides to be the mean attending calling two interns, "dopey and mousey". Arizona comes back to the hospital to help Bailey; The victims of the plane crash find out that the legal team is actually going after the hospital and Owen for their settlement deal.

All of the doctors struggle not to overwhelm Arizona as she comes back to work for the first time; Owen goes to a meeting about the lawsuit, and then finds out that he switched the hospital's airline before the plane crash, with a company who had many crashes before. Bailey begins resenting having a Christmas wedding, while she and Cristina work on a patient who needs a liver transplant. April finds out that she's late, so she and Jackson plan on getting married, if they find that she's pregnant; Callie continues to try to find a plan to help get Derek's hand back to normal and enlists Jackson's help. Meredith and Jo have a patient that continues to grab Meredith's butt and breast, and they find that he has a tumor. Arizona, Alex, and April work on a kid that was trampled by a horse; After finding out that April isn't pregnant, she begins saying how she didn't want to get married, and Jackson breaks up with her. Cristina wonders if she changed, and confesses she wants Owen back, only for him to ask for a divorce. Callie comes home to find Arizona playing with Sofia, while Derek comes home to Meredith telling him that she is three weeks pregnant.

The first year interns of Seattle Grace-Mercy West, go on their first 24 hour shift; Meredith sends her intern, Heather on a mission to call all of Derek's sister to find if one will donate a nerve to Derek, after a patient dubbed 'Big Foot' comes into the hospital after being shot and run over. Alex and Jo work together on a premature baby who fights for her life, while her fifteen year old mother, walks out on her. Cristina's interns continue to butt heads on two babies, that both need a heart transplant, but things get complicated when the heart goes to the other child; April works with Dr. Ross on patients that need mass's removed, and enlightens him on how to treat patients. Heather finds out that Meredith is pregnant; While Callie and Jackson work on finding an intern to help with Derek's case. Jo confesses to Alex, after being continually called 'princess', that her mother left her at a fire station, at two weeks old; Cristina's interns, Stephanie and Leah, get reprimanded when they accidentally almost kill a patient; While Derek's sister, Lizzie (Neve Campbell) comes to Seattle proclaiming she is going to donate her nerve to Derek.

Greys Anatomy s09e10

With just days until Miranda's wedding, she enlists April to take care of all of her patients, and then asks Meredith, Callie, and Arizona to be her bridesmaids. Meredith continues to try to push Derek for the surgery; while Alex and Jo work on a little boy who needs surgery. During surgery Alex lets Jo cut, resulting in her cutting the patients stomach, making her believe that she was set up to fail and goes to Arizona. Meredith and Derek go to their first ultrasound; Cristina finds out her and Owen's divorce is only because of the plane crash. April and Jackson decide to go the wedding with a date, resulting with them going with Shane and Stephanie, respectively. Arizona tells Alex that he needs to teach and not just throw the interns in there; after asking Stephanie to bring a friend with her Alex finds himself going with Jo. On the day of her wedding, Miranda begins having cold-feet and wonders if she should go down the aisle at all; Callie performs the surgery on Liz and Derek, and Meredith tells Liz about the pregnancy. After confronting Owen, Cristina and he find that they want to try again and share a passionate kiss; While on their way to the wedding, Richard gets a call from the ER explaining that Adele has entered with vomiting blood and he and Bailey rush to her aid, leaving Ben and everyone else thinking that she pulled a 'run-away bride'.

As Bailey rushes to save Adele's life, everyone at the wedding wonders where she went; Arizona tells Callie that she wants to try to have sex for the first time since the plane crash. Cristina and Owen can't decide if they're going to go through with the divorce or not; While a motorcycle gang is brought to the hospital after a car accident. Everyone except Alex and Jo are paged to the hospital forcing them to spend time together; Shane begins wondering if April is trying to make a pass at him. Meredith and Bailey rush to save Adele's life, eventually having the surgery go well, and Bailey goes back to her wedding. Just as Callie and Arizona are about to take the next step, Arizona says that she isn't ready and that she doesn't want Callie to leave her, but Callie reassures her that she would never leave her. Stephanie and Jackson end up having sex, after they agree not to have sex, while Jo and Karev begin bonding over their mutual childhood of foster care; As Bailey gets back to her wedding, Richard shows up but tells her to go back to her new husband, Meredith walks over and Richard tells her that Adele died from a heart-attack.

The doctors at Seattle Grace- Mercy West are all thrown off, when a financial adviser comes into the hospital to try and find ways to save the hospital money. Meredith tries to deal with having her hormones everywhere, while she tries to save the life of a pregnant woman who is in dire need of a new kidney. Arizona, Alex, and Cristina work on a little girl from the Africa program, as they try to save it from being shut down; While Owen tries to help Arizona work with 'phantom leg syndrome' as she begins feeling pain in her leg that is no longer existent. Derek and Jo work on a patient who has a tumor in his brain and have to work to help him move his face in the future; While April tries to teach Morgan how to effectively run the ER. April gets asked out on a date with one of the paramedics, while Meredith is able to get on a plane again when she has to fly to Oregon to get a kidney for her patient. At a staff meeting, the financial consultant explains that one of the only ways to help save he hospital from going out of business is to shut down the ER.

All of the plane crash victims are on edge when the judge reaches a decision regarding their case. The hospital is found guilty of negligence and each of the survivors is awarded $15 million in compensation; Derek starts playing ping-pong so he'll eventually be able to go back to surgery. Arizona butts heads with Avery when an old patient of Mark's shows up and Jackson doesn't want to do the same procedure Mark wanted to; Callie decides to throw a dinner for her and the rest of the plane crash victims. Dr. Bailey and April work on a set of patients who got hurt when the wife fell on the husband after trying to do a dance on a stripper pole; While Catherine comes into town and tries to convince Richard to go to lunch with her because she's worried about him. Jo and Alex begin growing closer, while Owen accidentally grabs Jo's breasts thinking it's Cristina; Cristina and Owen begin having sex even though they are divorced. Meredith, Richard and Heather work on a patient who eats her hair instead of arguing with her mother; At Callie's dinner, Meredith tells everyone that she's pregnant, as she can't drink the wine that Callie ordered. At the hospital Owen finds out that the insurance company won't pay the fifteen million dollars for the doctors because of a loop hole in the contract and the hospital paying for it would bankrupt them.
Greys Anatomy Season 9 Episode 2
This flashback episode shows all of the events that were not shown in detail in the last episode. Meredith accepts what has happened, and wants to move on with her life, while Derek doesn't believe he'll ever do surgery again, so he turns to teaching. Cristina doesn't talk after the plane crash, she explains that she was awake for the four days they were out, and that at when she heard animals, she wanted them to kill them all, but she then realized they were fighting over Lexie's body. Arizona is angered that she might be losing her leg, and decides that at no matter what cost she'll keep her leg, until the infection takes a turn for the worse and Callie is forced to tell Karev to take her leg. Mark is the worst off after the crash, after being in a horrible condition, until he starts to get better, only to realize that he isn't going to survive, and Richard helps him set up his will, when he is put on life support.
Grey's Anatomy Season 9 Episode 1

The episode takes place months after the plane crash. Callie and Derek are heart broken when they realize that they have to take Mark off of life support; Meredith continues to try to get Cristina on a plane to Seattle. Alex worries that the new peds surgeon will destroy Arizona's program now that she is gone. Frustrated with past decisions, particularly those pertaining to the crash, Owen goes to April and confesses that he shouldn't have taken her job and she needs to come back. Meanwhile, Meredith has become the new Bailey; being cold and ruthless with her students, who have given her the name 'Medusa'. On the other hand, Bailey finds out she has the new nickname 'BCB' or 'Booty Call Bailey' when her interns notice that she gets very happy when Ben comes into town. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that Arizona did survive to return home, but had to have her leg amputated by Callie, who she resents because of it.
